Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programmes in East and Southeast Asia (CCOP) 78th Steering Committee meeting was held in Mongolia during May 30 to June 2.
Mongolia /MRPAM/ joined the Coordinating Committee for Geo Science Programmes in East and Southeast Asia (CCOP) in 2018. CCOP 78th Steering Committee meeting is being held in Mongolia these days.
The Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programmes in East and Southeast Asia (CCOP) is an intergovernmental organization whose mission is to facilitate and coordinate the implementation of applied geoscience programmes in East and Southeast Asia in order to contribute to economic development and the improvement of the quality of life in the region.
CCOP has fifteen member countries: Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. It is supported by fourteen cooperating countries namely Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russian Federation, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States of America.
By becoming a member of the CCOP, Mongolia will be able to learn new achievements and experiences of geological science from member and cooperating countries and partner organizations, exchange ideas, participate in projects and programs, receive support and participate geological courses organized annually.
Since Mongolia became a member of CCOP in 2018, 14 officers and researchers from the MRPAM and the geological exploration sector have participated in capacity building programs and trainings in Japan, China, and the Korea by the expense of CCOP.
